I’m still working hard testing the splatter, spray and inky messes that will be included in the Inky Leaks Photoshop splatter and spray brushes and tools collection. Here’s one of the test blotters from the lab. If you look closely you can see the smears from a couple of mixer brushes in there as well as a finger print smudge tool. The collection is coming along well and I still expect to release it on August 30th but you can still pre-order it until it is released at considerable discount (The price climbs up a bit every week)

This week’s free Photoshop brush is a big broad brush that covers your image in a fast flowing cloud of debris. Like a broken sack of coal this brush is capable of a light dusting, but with a little more stylus pressure it will release a thick billowing dust cover. Danica Jokic paints with GrutBrushes impastos
Multi talented Danica Jokic does wonderful work in traditional media but is just as adept in applying her talents to digital media. I’ve been a fan of her oil paintings for a while so I was beyond thrilled when she used my impasto brushes to paint this fantastic portrait in Photoshop! She really shows how well traditional oil painting techniques can be applied to digital painting. Her talent makes it look easy but seeing what can be done is an inspiration to me to work harder at improving my skills. You can see much more of her paintings and illustrations on instagram instagram.com/danica.jokic/ Catch up with her work there, I think she’s one to watch and hers will be a journey worth following. Making a Mess Again in Photoshop
Taking a quick break from working on the cloud brushes to play around with some new splattery ink and paint brushes in the workshop. As usual, the goal is to make brushes that behave naturally; staining, splattering and ‘soaking’ into the paper as you draw, these are not stencil stamps. Here you can also see how using one of my paper templates enhances the organic look (take a look at the lighting in the darkest spots for example)
